“On The Steps” Lockdown Doorstep Portraits
May 11, 2020
The world has been a dark, scary and emotional place these last few (million) weeks! The news – if we dare to watch it – is, mostly, filled with stories of sadness and fear. While our day-to-day is packed full of anxiety and hand sanitiser!
And yet while furloughs are being handed out like they’re everyone’s favourite snacks and large scale companies are now turning on their most loyal staff just like Regina George turned on The Plastics! Us self-employed folk have had to, overnight, prep-talk ourselves through a “what the hell am I going to do now” conversation and find a way to pivot our businesses in an attempt to stay afloat!
And it turns out that there are a few things we photographers can do to spread a little happiness! (And to stop ourselves from going completely insane with boredom!)

Socially distanced photoshoots – capturing you in/outside of your home! All while remaining either 6ft away or on the other end of the phone!
Whether you want to forever be able to look back at this time in your life and remember it as the year you spent in your pyjamas, surrounded by puzzles with a, rather large, mug of wine! Or, for a little extra irony, put on your sassiest outfit to sit and smile amongst the bins! The possibilities are endless!
I spent a few weeks visiting families across St Albans, offering a ‘pay what you feel‘ service for a selection in exchange for a minimum of 10 professionally edited, high-resolution digital photos.
And for every booking I received, 10% from each family will be donated directly to the St Albans & District Foodbank!
So to recap…
